The 1st General Assembly of the European Association of Aerospace Medicine was held in Brussels the 18th of November 2006. Delegates from 17 European nations – specialists in aviation medicine were present. In addition many more pledged their support for the new independent pan European association in aviation medicine.
Association wishes to take action in ensuring scientific and practical evidence, to establish an open dialog within European Associations, joint work in applying aeromedical factors to European flight safety work and regulations.
By means of a closer European cooperation in aviation medicine, Association intends to fuel much-needed research in this important aspect of flight operations. The organisation wishes to build decisions on knowledge, evidence and open discussions within the organisation.
Emergence of the Association has an important step in the aeromedical support for a rapidly growing and increasingly complex European aviation environment.
Dr. Roland Vermeiren from Belgium – Chief medical officer of EUROCONTROL was elected as President. Elena Cataman – Head of Aeromedical Section of the Civil Aviation Administration of Moldova was elected as the 1st Vice President . Representatives from Norway and Germany also support Executive Committee of the Association.
